Which obdii scanner to buy?
Which obdii scanner to buy?
I want to add an obdii scanner to my toolkit for the Volvo V40. There's a lot of different ones on ebay and elsewhere, which one should I buy? I like the ones that are used with a laptop, any advice?
Life is Outstanding!
I was looking to buy one as well. Then I learned my local auto parts store (in this case Advance Auto) has one that I can use for free.
Personally, I wouldn't bother beyond that. You'll get the codes you need. The onboard LED on the scanner will tell you what the codes mean in English. Then you can come home and then fix it.
Free, after all, is a great price. They do it because you're very likely to come back to them and buy their parts and other goodies. You've saved yourself at least $70 for a basic scanner that you'll use once every 3 years.
But that's my 2 cents worth.
