transmission Rough on my '01 V70 Turbo or Software Upgrade?

transmission Rough on my '01 V70 Turbo or Software Upgrade?

i have a 01 v70 Turbo wagon and the car runs perfect, however, once in a very while, with no signs of errors lights (on the dash), or any noises - the Transmission will shift very rough few time and then go right back to normal again minutes later. Is it possible to know what the problem is..?
Maybe a software upgrade will fix that..?

Tranny does NOT Slip in any way or form. No delay in shifting either.

Where can I get a reasonable software upgrade? dealer wants $190.
The car is great/original and no warning lights...

Please advise..

Where? Dealer, they're the only ones who can do this. Reasonable? No.

You might try a drain and fill or a full flush first, but 2001s have a stop-neutral function that kills transmissions eventually, and this is why I recommend the dealer software update regardless of your fluid condition.

or just the software update..?

Beautiful V70.

Check the level. That is a "gimme" test. Level surface, engine running and warm. This is part of my mantra always work from simple to complex.

The traditional way to test trans fluid is to use the trans dipstick to see and smell the fluid. It should be pink and not smell burnt. The less pink/more burnt it is, the worse it is.

But there's more to it than just that, because a sudden full flush sometimes causes transmissions to slip totally. Read in the VRD for more. There are probably a hundred threads about this.
