Stuck Gascap Cover Plate - 2001 S80

I've got a 01 S80-T6 and just went to the gas station to fill it up. Amazingly, I can't get the darn cover plate to get out of the "locked" position, despite repeated attempts to lock/unlock the car doors in an effort to get the cover plate to disengage. I don't want to damage this body part......but just need to know how to get this unstuck?

Open the trunk and remove the right side trunk liner. You should then be able to access the fuel door lock solenoid to move the lock pin back.
