v70 glt 2000 poo14
hello all, This is my first Volvo and my first post. I have a 2000 v70 glt 105000 miles. displaying p0014. occasional surging idle, especially when cold. getting 19.3 mpg around town. head gasket redone by former owner at around 100000 miles. seems to run better after erase code. any ideas? cvvt? cam position sensor?
thanks for reply. dont know if plugs were replaced or not, but it seemd to me they would get fouled by blown head gasket and may have been replaced when the head gasket was done. by the way I failed to mention p0014 is timing over advance.

The error code is for the CVVT valve. It could be a connector problem to the valve, an open electrical circuit in the solenoid, or it could be a mechanical failure in the valve itself. It is worth a shot to try to clean it. The valve basically controls oil pressure to actuate a cam on the exhaust camshaft to vary the valve timing. If the oil passages get plugged it can cause your problem. It should ohm out at very low resistance if it is electrically good.

Anything that says Scan Tech is guaranteed to be crap. That is the sort of thing that I would go OEM only on. Be sure to get the gasket as well if the replacement doesn't come with one.any brand to stay away from
I show it as part number 36002695, myvolvopartsonline.com has it listed for just under 90.00. Be sure to have them check the part number against your VIN number to make sure that it is correct for your car. It is a very easy fix, two bolts and plug it in.

thanks for the info Lee. that part # seems to be for a 2001 model. mine is a 2000 and they don't list one for a 2000. I will call them Monday and inquire. I have some confusion about the name of this part I have heard it called: cvvt, ccvt, exaust solenoid, cam adjust solenoid.

With a decent parts guy any of those names should get you the right part. Calling it a CVVT valve should get them in the right neighborhood. It mounts on the top of the head just behind the exhaust camshaft sprocket.
