Can you see the other end (the non-pulley end) of the camshafts?

I also lost timing on my S80 and had to replace 4 valves. My sugjestion to you is to find the VADIS CD on Ebay. I have designed and built engines for almost 50 years. The volvo is timed by only by using there absolute location of crank, both cams, intake and exaust gear settings. None of wich are set while engine is TDC as we are used to. The crank is also placed in a specific locatiom with a tool that is placed through a hole in engine located under the starter motor that lockes the crank in a specific location (not TDC). I used a 3/8 extension that fit perfectly and was lucky to borow the cam locking tool from a european auto repair shop in my area.Would never attemt without the Vadis information. Inexpensive and invaluble.
Good luck.
