weird oilpressure-problem

Post by [vedder] »

Hi all!
I just replaced the head gasket, waterpump and oil and filter on my mothers car.
And the first start wasn't so problematic... But then i suddenly lost the oil-pressure!
I have no leak. Almost max oil in the engine. But when i start the car it runs for aprox. 10-15 sec. before the oil-pressure-lamp lights up.. and as it lights up - the park.brake-lamp also starts to glow.
What can be wrong?
Please help me (if you understand my problems described in poor english here =) )

Several years ago, I got oil pressaure problems at start. It took very long time to get the pressaure. It was because I did not use origin oil filter. Always use origin filter or FRAM filter. I would actually start with just changing the filter again.
How does the engine sounds when the pressaure lamp is on, is it knocking at idling speed or not. Normally if the pressaure is low, you can hear a knocking sound. Then you should definitely stop the engine and start looking for the problem.
The fact that the park brake lamp is glowing is actually showing that hopefully it is an electrical problem, not an oil pressaure problem. Check the grounding of the engine. It is very common that the ground is broken (thick blue cable), and actually you have loosen the second ground wire when changing the head gasket. Did you remember to put that back?
