Hello,

Daughter has 1987 Volve GLE 760 and we have done very little to it. We are considering purchasing a used Volvo and we have heard of their great reliability and safety. We would like any comments on 2002 to 2006 Volvo Wagons or SUV type vehicles.

Thanks
Keith

I'm looking too, so I can't answer your question (my current Volvo is a 1983 Volvo 240 (what a great year). Now I'm looking at a 2001 S80 and my question is whether I would be substantially better off with an S60, around the same year? This S80 looks clean and checks out mechanic wise. Does the S80 deserve the bad rap it gets? Thanks anyone for an opinion, insight.

The Buyer's Guide has a half-dozen relevant posts in it.

2001 is a bad year for Volvos in my humble opinion. Search for my and other's voluminous writings on the subject of buying Volvos from this era.

They get better as you move up or down from 2001.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

Thank you Matt for the feedback, but I have not been able to locate the writings you refer to that discuss how 2001 was a bad year for Volvos.

It may be because I am new to the forum.

Thanks again, Grubsnelle.

Trust us, they are (VERY bad)!!
Stay away from 2001 and 2002 Volvos
2003 and newer are much better Volvos
