1999 S70 rough running when cold

Post by cityfarmer »

I have a 1999 S70 Volvo that surges and runs rough for the first minute or two after a cold start. It has never done this before and just seems to have started after having it's timing belt replaced.
It's my wife's car and she also seems to think it is slightly down on power. Ideas?

Check for vacuum leaks or loose hoses before trying to troubleshoot something else. Once it's warmed up and idling normally, take a can of carb cleaner and spray around any vacuum lines you can find and see if it surges.

Could be ETM related... Rough idle and surging are pretty common with that. Although you could try cleaning the Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) first to see if that helps.
