i have recently found my rear parcel shelf brake light hasn't been working, because the bulb malfunction indicator on the dash has been coming on when i apply the brakes. further investigation showed that where the light gets its power from there is a rail which the contacts slide along under spring tension. the tension has worn down and the contact has been ever so slight, but the main problem is the fact that when watching the circiut a red glow between the contacts is emitted showing a heat source, here lies the problem for a FIRE as there rear parcel shelf farbric runs very close to it. please watch out for this problem. we dont want any volvos burning down from a design fault. the easy way to fix it is to bend the tabs that slide on the rail down to create greater pressure on the rail.
cheers pete
