the surge
the surge
hello everyone, I have the surge. while taking a trip in my 90/240 I stopped for gas. upon start my engine reved pretty high and continued to do this every time when started. I have notice when the car is shutoff for A while the surge is less. other than that when driving it's fine.
Hi guys I want to add some more info on the surge. I have also noticed that my temp gauge doesn't rise like it should to the correct range (only 1/4 rise) when at normal operating temp. Could it be that the sensor sends a constant cold signal to the ECU which causes a cold start on startup?

If the temp gauge is reading low I would suggest that you need a new thermostat. On the B230 engines there are two temperature sensors. One supplies the temp gauge and the other feeds info to the ECU. If the thermostat is faulty the gauge will probably be showing the correct temperature. The coolant being under normal working temperature will have an adverse effect on the other temp sensor. The ECU will have bad info and adjust accordingly.
Bill.
