Not being nasty here but with all the calipers and other bits you have had are you using the correct bolts? They are different lengths for the different makes.

I do not think you are being nasty. I am not offended. Ive taken the calipers and rotors off the car enough times and examined and measured everything to be sure I am not posting nonsense. However, I am not sensitive to skepticism, its understandable considering how I first went about fixing this problem years ago when I first discovered it. But the past is behind me, and like I said I want to resolve this issue once and for all. The drivers side caliper that I received from Erie VoVo does not match up, everything on the car is oem, the drivers side mounting bracket is too shallow and doesnt clear the rotor, If I take the rotor off it bolts right up. Unless Volvo made my !988 Volvo 760 turbo sedan with ABS and Bendix special with two different sizes of front rotors. The thing is I called Erie back and told them my problem, they said the calipers and brackets came off the same car. I said "the left side doesn't bolt up, the mounting bracket is more shallow than the passenger side." He offered me a refund if I shipped the part back. The used calipers were bad so I used them as a core for my new ones. I want to make clear to anyone who reads this that I DO NOT think that Erie VoVO is a bad place or bad people or I was shafted. I think they went out and removed the calipers from the car cleaned them up and shipped to me. I think the previous owner of the car, they got the parts off of, may have been experiencing the same type of issues I have. Now we get to the particulars...When I was speaking to them I asked them if they had any type of cross referencing material that may help me locate the part. Eric told me anything between an 87 and a 91 7 series would work. Off course everyone else I have talked to asked more pertinent questions involving Girling and Bendix and with ABS or without ABS. So I am going to order a brand new caliper from the dealer. Right now, Immediately if not sooner, it would be nice to know what year and model of Volvo I might find the part from so I could call some of the boneyards in the area or online (ha) to see if that year and model is available to salvage the bracket from. VADIS is the only way I know of to get that information. To anyone who reads this, be wary of Jamaicans from Newark New Jersey selling Volvos on EBAY. Seriously, If you are considering buying a used Volvo don't let this scenario scare you away. I love this car. If you find an old Brick that someone has maintained you will be very happy. Just be sure to look at the person selling it to you. If I ever sold this car someone would be getting a deal, but I will never sell this car. It gives me high performance when I need it merging onto any highway and its comfortable to drive, plus I get cheap thrills when I think of how some Dodge Dakota SUV hemi driving bully must feel when they get smoked at the green light.

My cryptic mind thought it was very apt, but I know the story of Don Quixote and you have had your fair share of tilting at windmills.the quixote message was cryptic and poor
I have checked VADIS and the part numbers for the calipers for Girling and BDA are exactly the same on 760 Turbos and V6 from '88 to '90 which had ABS only. The 740 with ABS show the same part numbers from '88 to '90. There is a proviso on the chassis type fitted.
The mounting brackets don't have part numbers listed but looking at the pictures on VADIS the bracket for the Girling system is wider than that for the BDA.
If you need more info before hitting the scrapyards let me know.

Well it is done, and working great. The irony is that I ordered a new drivers side Bendix caliper with ABS for a 150 bucks, just to get the bracket. When the dealership called me and I went down to pick up the part, I opened the box up and low and behold inside was a brand new drivers side caliper mounting bracket without the caliper. They charged 85 bucks back to my visa card and everyone is happy. But, one thing, after further contemplation, I believe that Erie VoVo had calipers on a rack somewhere in inventory and they pulled two bendix calipers for abs and didn't bother to check what size of rotor the brackets would fit. I do not think that both of those calipers came off the same car.

Thank you for the update.
I would agree that the calipers were off different cars if the brackets were different sizes. Contact Erie pointing this out, not necessarily with a view to obtaining a refund, more to highlight what could be a defect in their system.
