V70XC 2001 Intermittent Steering Noise

I have a 2001 V70XC with 109000 miles. There is an intermittent rubbing type noise when the steering wheel is either turned to the left or right. It is intermittent. Any ideas???

It sounds quite like mine. I noted that it was doing it more when cold.I also know that it comes from the steering column and not from the power steering because it was still doing that noise after I turned off the engine.
It sounds like something rubbing against the column.
