2000 S80 T6, oil leaking

Hello everyone,

I noticed that my car is leaking oil...
When I changed the oil today, only 4 qrts came out, and oil was dripping but can't really say where it is coming from.
I had put auto-rx 5K miles ago but i don't know if that made an affect on this.
I think it is the head gasket...
What you all think?

It's probably not the head gasket. My guesses would be 1) turbo return line seal, 2) oil separator (PCV).

Not if you do them yourself. If you pay the dealer, the oil separator is more than the turbo oil line seal.

It depends on your skills. The turbo line is much easier than the PCV oil separator.

AFAIK, we don't have a specific writeup for the T6 turbo line, but these two links should give you an idea of what's involved: http://volvospeed.com/Repair/awd_oil_return.php

I think a dealer will charge about $500 for the PCV and about $200 for each oil return line. The PCV kit is about $70 and the oil line seals are about $5 each.

thank you vegas,
it looks little complicated to me.
I can do the basic tune up myself but this is something I wouldn't get into it because never done it before.
The car runs as it should, is it ok to drive like this and keep adding oil as it gets low?
and what is causing this leak? what is the common affect?

Yes, you can keep driving it, just check the oil level frequently and keep it topped up. Make sure you change it at the regular intervals - top-ups do not count as oil changes.

The leaks are caused by the rubber in the seals going bad due to heat and age.

hello vegas,

i looked around the engine today and this is what I figured.
I am using your picture to illustrate.
The front of the engine looks clean, no leaks. (Arrow 1)
The back side of engine where I point #2, I see some oil around the pipes below the upper mount. I think this is where the leakage is.
Can you guess what it is?
