dead battery

i have a dead battery. dumb queston: where do you apply jmper cables...do i have to take out the battery altogether or is there a positive charging post in the engine compartment near the fuse box that serves that purpose ?

I'm not sure on your car, but on mine there is a post right behind the fuse box under the hood (on the driver's side). There is a cover with a + sign on it that you have to pivot up to expose the post.
