Hi all, I have just completed a full engine and electrical conversion of my '99 v40 LPT to a '03 LPT. Almost all things went without major issues. I was even able to start the new motor with the old electrical / ECU system.
However since the phase 3 engine has VVT and some other nice new features, I decided to replace the entire electrical system with the new one. Got all my parts from the same smashed car at a local scrap dealer.
My questions are:
1) Will it make a difference from an ECU side that my 99 is a manual and the 03 is an auto.
2) Since I am using the same old key, I am forced to use my old immobiliser unit. The power comes on, shows everything on the cluster display but she won't start. The light with a motor and a cross over it is always on (not blinking, just on). I am assuming that it has something to do with the anti-theft unit since the petrol pump is not being activated.
The only unit I didn't take was the alarm / central locking unit from the newer motor. Maybe this could be the reason why the engine won't start?
Any case - Hope someone could help me. I really want to get going with my "new" car.
Cheers
Francois
