So the next question is...HOW THE HELL DO YOU PULL AN ENGINE????
I have never had to change one on an 850 but the Haynes manual is a pretty good guide.

There are a couple of ways to go about it, down from the bottom or up from the top. It largely depends on what you have in the way of tools. Under most circumstances I think I would be inclined to separate it from the transmission and yank it from the top. If the engine is seized you won't be able to turn the torque converter to unbolt it from the flywheel so I think you are looking at dropping it all out from the bottom by dropping the subframe.

Btw.. haha you pull an engine carefully.
you need an engine hoist. 1st
No interior pics, it is "ok", the leather is cracked but not torn. Mostly it just needs to be cleaned.

I was thinking of pulling it out of the top and seperating the engine from the tranny outside the car. Would this be possible? I don't have an engine hoist but will buy one from Harbor Freight...only $110 for the 1 ton (think that will be enough)?

I'm not sure it will come out together through the top. I was trying to find the thread, it is several months old but it had some very good pictures of a guy removing the engine from the bottom. He used the engine hoist to lift the front of the car rather than the engine.

Dear GOD I don't have the room for that...the only way I could see me doing it is if I could've taken it straight out with the hoist.

Well I just bought a $250 parts car then. Not the biggest deal cause a junkyard will give me $150 sight unseen for it so I'm out $100 to play for a little bit.

Cheaper than women!

Ok will do it's actually on sale here for $130 and I have a 20% coupon so it's within a few dollars.

But by the looks of that picture I would've needed a 2 ton unit!!

OK guys I posted on VS and Chilled Man said it's doable out the top with the engine/tranny - so I think I am OK...

Biggest issue looking at his pic is lack of room but I should be able to pull it up and then sideways, I have a 2 car garage but it's not extremely long.

Wheelsup..

IT IS DO ABLE! Many people have done it.
In fact someone over on VS is actually currently rebuilding his engine in a shared garage.. if i can find you the link i will def post it.

Also.. DO NOT TAKE IT TO THE JY!!! not for 150... you can EASILY make your 250 back parting it out. then you can scrap the rest. lol
