WTB - 95 850GLT Tan/Beige Dashboard Cover

Post by Jim-1995 850 »

The passenger side airbag cover has totally peeled back on this 850, so I need to replace the instrument panel top cover. Anyone have one they want to sell? I am located in KY - zip 41017.

Thanks! Jim

I can try to hook you up with one from a jy, but honestly.. you can just do like everyone else and super glue or velcro it down.
but if you REALLY want it that bad I dont mind pulling one if I can find it in good quality for you.

id advise looking thru some local junk yards. and be warned. they can be a pain in the arse to take off.

Thanks, Rob - I'll look locally first. I was hoping someone may have a parts car laying around.

This cover is beyond glueing or velcro-ing it down & looks like hell. I looked at the service manual for disassembly - it looks like only 12 screws all easily accessible & the cover is off. Before I thought the entire dash had to be removed, which would have been a deal breaker. The local Volvo dealer wants $800 for a new cover installed, which is also a deal breaker.

OUCH! 800... id walk.
but yeah from a junker id say your looking maybe 100 bucks.
I was hopping to get to a jy today to get some parts for some people an dlook for others. but i got called in. im still going to try to make it out before 12... so two hours. lol.

Idk in my experience... the cover is a major pita. but then again anything that takes longer then 4 hours constatly is for me.
hey write it up! i know id love to see how to take my dash cover off. ive only ever ripped them off at a jy to get something else. lol.

make a step by step and take some photos!

This is how the manual says to remove the cover & instrument cluster. Looks easy, but I have to admit I haven't done it yet.

I searched this site & found this thread:
https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 8&start=98

This is the download link that works:
https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/downlo ... vo_850.zip

What an awesome find for free!

??? I don't know what you mean. Each manual chapter is a separate PDF file & I posted that detail by converting it to jpeg & cropping out everything but that section, and uploading it. May not be the most web savvy way but it worked!

BTW, it looks like I found an instrument panel cover in MD that I'm negotiating to buy. :D

Well, I received the new cover, now to find time to install it! I'll try to document the procedure.

Ive seen a write up or two in repair database, but actually doing it is going to be a weekend job.
