2005 D5 S60 Fuel filter replacement

Post by ArtyH »

Hello,
I have a 2005 D5 S60 auto, have just changed the oil, and have a replacement fuel filter to change also. The filter case has a black plastic screw at the base of the cylinder, when I unscrew the plastic, obviously the diesel spills out, I have found the outer case to be tight and it would not come off. IS there a certain way to remove the outer casing/? Also how much diesel should escape and will the system need priming after the new filter is fitted? Is the system self priming?

Thanks for any advice offered. :D

Regards,

ArtyH

not sure about the outer casing, only ones I've seen just had a nut that you could loosen off. Maybe you need to put more torque on it, use a breaker/cheater bar.

Don't know the exact amount, but on the floor it will look like about 1 square meter on concrete

fuel pumps will prime the system, it'll take a good bit of cranking though before the car starts up so don't be scared if it does.
