Got a few hundred miles on Vivienne now so Ive started to hunt down the source for my p0172 AKA "System too rich" code. Searched the board and I'm starting with the basics: plugs, filter, vacuum system.
Pulled the plugs on 1,2 & 3 last night. The leads look pretty fresh as do the plugs, however they are NGK bkr63. They were gapped around .032" which im pretty sure is wrong too. Wasnt able to find much about these plugs that pertained to Volvo, let alone turbo'd Volvos.....
Any thoughts on these plugs? 6 heat range seems correct.

They're essentially the same as the Bosch Copper Plus plugs - though I happen to think NGK's are better plugs. Try regapping them to .028" though.
The P0172 is usually a vacuum leak or air leak causing the front oxygen sensor to flip out and overcorrect. I got that one once, and a vacuum hose had just come off the tree.

Thats good to know. Ill gap em at .028" then. They seem pretty fresh so thats one less thing to replace for a few miles.
I noticed some oil residue on one of the intake pipes at the rear of the engine..Wonder if im getting a boot leak there...

Is it the pipe that comes out of the turbo and up and over the engine, or the one that comes into the turbo to the side from the airbox? It's normal for either to have oil on them considering the age of your car. In the case of the plastic one, your PTC nipple may need cleaning.I noticed some oil residue on one of the intake pipes at the rear of the engine

OK pretty sure I I found the issue..Looking at other threads I found that a lot of cars throwing this code had a broken vac pipe on the inlet manifold, front of the engine near the power steering pump and thermostat. Sure enough mine is broken
So the question is....What is this pipe and does anyone know the P/N. I have VADIS but to be honest I'm not having much look getting a P/N for it. I thought it might be a PCV pipe, but looking at the PCV system diagram on VADIS that appears not to be the case...

Well I went to pull the elbow off and the plastic snapped off about 4" back. Doing the PCV shortly so ill tend to it then. Got rid if the code though. Took the cap off the new fuel filter I put in the T6 and plugged the leak on the inlet manifold. Twill do for now.

I just wanna add that when your air intake pipe starts to looks like this...

You need to clean or replace that pcv nipple. When its clogged or has a leak/rip it deposits this oily residue that normally goes into the pcv oil trap box. I too had that oily residue there, and when i replaced breather tube i discovered the tube/hose had ripped apart.

+1 to PrestigeC70's comment.
That line looks ugly. My bet is that the PTC is completely clogged but the intake snorkel will likely be destroyed if you take the line off of the PTC to clean it.

Yeah, I actually cracked the darn tube thing right at the bend in the pipe getting it out along a line that already appeared to be there. I was able to find a junk one for $5 as opposed to paying the ridiculous $100 for a new one. Curiously, someone had already ripped off the PTC valve, and left the rest of the tube in that 850
My car ran much better after I fixed that tube and the rest of the PCV system...well, until the cam seal blew out and I freaked out and thought it was the RMS
