Annoying interior squeaks 850
I have a 1996 850 turbo wagon and have not been able to get rid of a very annoying squeak that occurs when going over bumps. It started about a year ago when the car had 100,000km (60,000miles).It seems to come from the rear passenger side somewhere between the back seats and the tailgate. I thought it might be the shocks but had these checked and was told they are fine. I have oiled door hinges and seat belt pulleys and latches but haven't found it yet. Is this a common problem? Any suggestions?

I know what you mean! ANNOYING! However, my 850's squeaks come from the dash board area after going over bumps. If I find out anything, I'll let you know and vice versa.
Thanks,
Danie

On the wagons, most of the time the "rear interior squeek" is coming from the rear seat back latches.
Fold down the rear seat back and spray white lithium grease into the latches on the seat.

Forgot to mention from my previous post.....
Another thing you can do is get a hold of clear silicone spray and spray between all the rear panel joints. That would help to ease out some of the interior squeeks.

And ride back there while your wife drives. And if you have a stethoscope lying around (who doesnt'?) use that to find out exactly where the sounds are coming from.

Look at the rear passenger headrest. That was the case with my 98 V70 T5. I used WD40 and that did it for a while but the squeak came back I will try the "white lithium grease" and see if that is a more longlasting lube.
good luck

Thanks for the replies. I sprayed WD40 in the rear seat latches and that has done the trick. The car is once again a pleasure to drive
.
The car is always a pleasure to drive, even when it squeeks a little. Just put the windows down, turn on the Valentine 1, get on the freeway and fly!!!
