s70 check egine light

my check engine light was on and went to get emission tested, but i failed. What does this mean? this a 1998 s70

Who failed you? I would get a second opinion if needed to pass inspection, otherwise, I would deal with it then. You could also get your codes read by AutoZone for free unless you would rather pay to have it done at the dealer (which leads me back to my original question).

If no autozone then disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes. You will still fail unless you drive for a couple of cold starts on the engine. It might have been as simple as a loose gas cap. some codes such as a bad airpump will return after the first startup.
