2000 V70 base model engine knocking even with 93 octane... Topic is solved

I have a 2000 V70 base model and it still knocks even after I had the oxygen sensor replaced a while back. I have been running 93 octane since the problem began. Is the any other typical problem with these models that would cause this. Also change fuel filter often... Could I just put a colder thermastat to help with the knocking/pinging?

I'm not specifically familiar with that engine, but some of the obvious things to check are the knock sensor (if it has one) and the EGR valve/piping. If the EGR valve is clogged up or not working correctly the engine can knock. The other obvious thing is the timing, but it's probably computer controlled.

Anyway, start with the obvious stuff for preignition problems.

Knock sensor(s). There are two of them under the intake manifold.

The EGR oil seperator bock is located under the intake manifold on the transmission end of the engine . a fexible hose is attached to the air intake.
