I can't find a listing for that.

Two things that come to mind are the idle speed air control valve, which is classed as a solenoid, located on the left side of the engine under the intake manifold and the air box thermostat which does control an air flap.

This is what Auto Parts World calls "air flap actuator".

A heater part, not engine.

That looks like the air blend door solenoid which is on the bottom of the heater casing.

Is it possible that this is what's keeping my vent flaps from operating?
And, what might be the problem with the vacuum line that allows the heater control valve from opening? I have no pressure from the little port on the firewall that feeds the htr cont valve, altho, there is pressure on the little ports on both sides of it, again on the firewall, passenger side?
And, what exactly does that air blend thing do?
thanks

You have ECU (Electronic Climate Control). That part takes signals from the ECU computer and opens and closes vacuum valves that in turn move the flaps through the use of vacuum diaphragms. You should normally have no vacuum at the hose that hooks to your heater water valve at the fire wall unless you have the "Recirc" button pressed or the system is asking form max cool. The system has a self diagnostic feature where the AC button will flash after the initial startup. There is a way to read the codes and I know there is a trouble shooting diagram in the Volvo service manual (greenbook) and I think as well as on the 700/900 FAQ available on this site and others. It is a very reliable but sophisticated system and just buying/replacing parts may not get to the bottom of the issue. Best to go through the trouble shooter. Good luck Scot

Marty....here is the FAQ I was referring to:
http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/H ... osticCodes
Scroll up and down as there is a ton of info there about the ECC. Should provide you with most of the info you need.
