Can you help identify this part I need? PNP related

Post by Andy_H_Vw »

I replaced my PNP switch recently and now the car is stuck in 3rd (winter Mode) - on examination I found that the TransAxle Connector Terminal was damaged at Pin 24 and 25 (the end piece of the 3 part connector). The pins were bent from where I struggled getting the part out of the housing.

Pins 24 & 25 relate to:
24 & 25 ........................... Line Pressure Solenoid

What is the last block of this 3 part piece called so I can get a new one?

Thanks very much

To clarify the above is the connector. Its the third part that I need.

The first part comes with the PNP Switch
The second part (RPM Sensor) can be bought from sites like this:
http://www.partsforvolvosonline.com/pro ... ts_id=5879

So just need to know what the third part is called and where I can get it
(Pins 21, 22, 23, 24 & 25)

Thanks in advance

The part you have outlined in blue comes away in a seperate block, to get to it either spread the plastic housing so you can pop the end block up and out at an angle towards the airbox side of the engine otherwise you will need to depress a very small blue tab in the other end of the fitting. Important make sure you put the three parts together correctly or the cap will not fit as I found yesterday when I replaced the RPM Sensor on my 850.

My best suggestion is a breaker. Just chop off the whole connector and splice the parts you need back as is appropriate.

Thanks for posts.

Trouble is I struggling to know what the part is called... so asking around for the part is difficult.

Have sent a few emails to Breakers and hoping that someone can advise.

Thanjs

It is called the PNP switch electrical connector unless there is some other local term for it. Many of he salvage yards in the US let you just wonder around and take you own parts off, the call them "pick and pull" yards. At the end of your adventure they dream up a price for the parts that you have pulled off of the car(s). They are usually fair and you can haggle with them a bit if you don't think it is fair.

Thanks very much - how I wish breaker yards were like that near me - Health & Safety prevents all of that these days it seems.

Have you enquired at your local Volvo main agent so at least you can locate it's exact name ? I had to get the RPM sensor for my 850 cost £39 from the main agent.

Thanks for the posts - :)

I have spoken with local dealer and still dont know the exact part name - but have narrowed down the Part numbers of the block and the terminals (which would have to be ordered into UK)

Block: 3523409
Terminal: 30656462

Have found a helpful salavage company offering me the PNP and all the associated wiring, but seems overkillas I only need the last block.

Hoping the rain stops so I can go check the connector in more detai

:D
