S70 1998 ?? Name of plastic connector to throttle body??

Post by roscoerich »

Any one know the name of the large plastic part that attaches to the throttle body that has the flame trap connected to it. And how much should I spend?

Not sure of the specific name for it. Is yours broken or missing altogether? I can have a look tomorrow on my S70 and see if it the item has you a volvo part number on it.

I'm not sure what part you're referring to. '98 S70s have an oil separator, not a flame trap like in the 9-- series cars. Can you point it out on this parts diagram of the intake manifold?

I think you are referring to the intake snorkel tube that runs between the MAF and the throttle body, Porsche calls it a J tube on the 944 but that is because of its shape. I will fire up a windows partition and get you a picture and part numbers from VADIS but it may be later this afternoon.

Oh duh! I knew it had to be something obvious. No need for fire up VADIS, Lee, I'm at my VIDA PC

If it's part #19 in the below diagram, you want Volvo P/N 9141228 (for Federal emission cars without AIR pump) or 9179300 (for CARB emission cars with AIR pump). It's about $40.00.

Thanks Lee,
It is number 19 for the carb with air pump. I had a crazy weekend and will be back to it tomorrow. Thanks for your help.
