hydraulic tappet?

Post by markv70driver »

Hi everyone i havea v70 2.5 diesel on a 2000 plate the old shape. and every time i start it one of the tappets clicks just the once there are no other symptoms just the one annoying click which is difficult to hear from inside the car. My question is will this be expensive to have repaired. will the camshaft have to come out. is there an additive i can add to the oil in the meantime. any help would be appreciated. Mark

Years ago they suggested "mystery oil" for lifters. I'm not sure if it is even made today

Something that people have used with great success to quiet valvetrain noise is Auto-RX. I personally have used the stuff and while I didn't have any top end noise, the top end is clean as a whistle now. Very good stuff.
