Fuel Pressure Problem

Post by seriesonenut »

Hello

My 2003 v70 d5 has died! It cut out on the road, a too high/too low pressure fault code showed up. I can see no leaks. can anyone suggest what can be wrong?

Many thanks

Hello, How many kms on your vehicle? What was the code? If air is getting to a running diesel engine then fuel interruption must be the cause of an on-the-road cutout. A clog in the delivery line? Isn't there a big filter in the tank which can get thoroughly gummed up? A fuel pump which just died? Do diesels have some sort of governor which could have broken in a "stop engine" mode? Successfully starting a family's 2 cyl. diesel boat engine is the only diesel experience I have. It did make me a hero for a couple of hours. Please post back when you find out. Kira

I can suggest more after you answer Kira's questions; but in the meantime, try cranking it while bapping the fuel pump with the blunt end of a screwdriver. If the car starts, prepare for the hell that is replacing that damn thing.
