Volvo 850 - re-sprayed front grille

Hi,
Just sprayed my front grill black, I think it looks much better, your thoughts?
I used black enamel gloss spray paint.

Two coats, used enamel paint as dries quick & hard (I did not use primer, has not come off yet).
I've also sprayed the plastic inserts in the front bumper the same colour.

Getting ready to paint mine now....have to scrape off the 15 yr. chrome stuff....looks like you masked the badge and arms....

I masked up the badge & strip before spaying.
You mentioned that you scraped off the chorme, did it come off easy? I just sprayed over the top with two coats, still on!

It looks really good, sad to say I've done the same in the past and it just doesn't hold up, mine chips alot.
I'm going to try IPD's black grill next.

Did you use primer & then spray paint? I used enamel paint as it hard wearing.

I do like that grille. Was thinking about buying a black one for my silver 85

0 might spray mine. Ignore the white out headlamp I was seeing what BMW angel eye lamps would look like and didnt realise i'd saved the picture

Hello,I did finish spraying my grille last nite,was watching the U.S.-Canada hockey game,those darn Canucks!Any way,looks a lot better than the original faded grille,don't know how long that enamel will hold up? I priced a new grille at ipd,almost $100...I do have to get my hood redone,we'll see how long this one lasts....I might have to plastic bead the whole thing,primer,then re-paint.I do have a lot of "chrome" chips around the house now that fell off the grille....Another pic is what paint I used from Napa,about $6.....peace!
