cam shaft

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

cam shaft

Post by mark-cam12345 »

Hi. I am trying to help a friend. He is working on a Volvo 2001 S80 T6. The engine was taken apart. He has no specialised tools to work on volvo's but has been working on cars for 20 years. He is looking for something to pictures to help him make tools for the camshaft variable valve timing or a workshop manual to help with this. (its a varnis system). Can anyone help. (This is my 1st time on such a forum, so please be patient). Thank you Cathi

Search online for a haynes manual or cam lock tool thread and you will see it. I find a piece of angle Iron with two tabs (27mm wide) placed 138mm apart from each other with a 3mm spacer under one of the tabs works well. The tabs need to be 4mm thick so the insert into the cams. I am working on a design I can sell but right now theya re strong but ugly.

The materials must strong steel as the VVT will take 90 ft lbs when tightening. If you are just assembling the head then you can go with much weaker materials.

Here are some directions. Hopefully they will apply to your car. If they don't it should be obvious pretty quickly.
