Stock External Amp?

Post by ironspeed »

I here that some 850s came with a amplifier off of the deck, I plan to get a new head unit becuase the car does not have a cd player. And i heard that in cases where there is a external amp. the new deck will not work, or it will have to be wired in such a way to bypass the amp. Is there a way to figure out if the car has one? The car is a 1994 850 T5 5spd, it has 8 speakers.

Also where do you guys get a wiring harness adaptor for the deck?

Have you pulled out the deck and looked at the wires going into the back of it?

On mine there is a connection for a Cd changer and a connection that says amp. I have the cable plugged into the CD changer plug but nothing in the one that says amp.

I have been looking for a wire adapter or a cable that I can plug into the Amp socket so I can use a external amp.

let me know what you find

I didn't notice the amp. terminal before, there is nothing pluged into it. I found out that if you do have an amp it will be located to the right of the gas pedal.
