Volvo timing belts Topic is solved
From what I understand you've got a timing belt and it should be changed every 70K miles. If you don't know for a fact that it has been changed, I'd go ahead and change it with the mileage you've got on the engine. It's far cheaper to change the belt now than repair the damage caused by a failed belt.
You'll probably want to change the tensioner pulley, idler pulley and water pump while you're in there.

When I changed my timing belt, the sticker that was in the box with the belt would not stick to the cover. I guess it wasn't the right type of adhesive to stick to that plastic. I filled in the boxes with dates and mileage then put the sticker in the glove box.Jot wrote:If your timing belt has been changed there should be a sticker on the belt cover. If not sure change NOW
In other words, the lack of a sticker isn't a sure indication that the belt hasn't been changed. Having said that, if I had 130K miles on the engine I'd go ahead and change the belt just to be certain.
