Im new to the Volvo scene but im in for life now.I just got an 03 S60 with a N/A 2.4 and it is 5-speed I would like to turbo it .What are some of my options like can i get the turbo setup from a S60 2.4t donor or is there another cheap way to do it or should i just go for a turbo kit from one of the performace volvo sites.
Also while im tryin to figure this all out i would like a little more power for now...what are some of the common mods ?
any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Tony

Take my comments with a grain of salt because performance modifications is an area that I am somewhat ignorant about when it comes to Volvo's. But, I think the general consensus from many is that you'd be better off trading cars than attempting to convert an n/a into a turbo. You not only have the acquisition and fitment of all the parts and pieces to deal with, but then you have the computer/electrical issues as well. I know on the older rwd cars people have talked of this conversion being a pain in the a$$ and not worth the time or effort. I could only imagine that the pain would be ten-fold on your car. I think the 2.4 n/a has a lot of redeeming qualities but HP and performance ain't one of them.

Otis has it right. The conventional wisdom around here on making non-turbos turbocharged, or making automatics into manuals, is that it's not worth it unless you want to do the work for the work's sake. Some people want to do it for "the journey not the destination", and if that's you, then do the modification. Otherwise you'll be far ahead just getting a turbo even after the sell/buy headaches.

I am a project person but i dont want to do a ton of work just to do it so I understand what you guys are saying .I was just curious to know if anyone has done this kind of swap and could give me some imput on what all parts will bolt on and like what companies do the tuning and that kind of stuff.Im only really looking for about 40 or 50 HP i dont want another race car lol.But if the swap was easy I would be willing to do it.
How bout like an ecu upgrade or something along those lines?Any imput on something like that?
Thanks

Get the Vadis(Volvo service manual) Software(on ebay for $25)and that donor car. Easiest way is to drop and swap complete mtr trans as one. Just bought a donor car so I have a 02 2.4t that bolts to a aw5550/51sn if you need one.

You will spend more than you paid for the car and you still may never get it right!!
Sell it and buy a turbo
