1995 850 keyless entry

Post by plakas5 »

Can anyone help... My 95 850 has keyless remote that does work. When I press the lock button, all the locks go down then immediately go right back up. The same thing happens when I lock the car with the key. How do I fix this ???

I'm going to split your question off into a new topic so we're not resurrecting a dead one

I'm thinking that part of the drivers door latch assembly is messed up on your car. The lock popping back up when the drivers door is open is a feature to keep you from locking your keys in the car when the drivers door is open. If the door doesn't know it is closed when it's closed, it would cause it to do that. Do your interior lights stay on once that door is shut? Will it stay locked if you push the lock down manually?

There is a latch repair over at Volvospeed...go to Bay 13 and look for 'V70 latch repair'. Their site is down again right now, or I'd post the link for you.

I appreciate your help. Unfortunately I think your right because the lights in the car will turn off but the 2 dome lights always stay on. Also the locks do this even if the car door is closed and I'm on the inside or the outside. I tried to lock the doors manually by just pushing the locks down and still they pop right back up. So what part of the driver door latch do you think I need to replace? Is it the whole mechanism ? I just got the car about 2 weeks ago so I'm still new to the 850. (though I've had a few 740's so I know how to tinker with volvo) Please let me kow ... Thank you

Actually I went out and tried to reprogram the remote just in case that was causing this problem but it didn"t stop the problem. I also realized that the interior lights do shut off when the doors, truck, and hood are closed. If I force the locks down by hand the trunk does not lock and the radio does not blink at all for the alarm system. I don't know what to do from here. Any suggestions ???

Hey everyone. Thank you for all your help. I FIGURED IT OUT !!! The problem was in the trunk. After realizing the trunk does not lock at all. I looked the the locking mechanism in the trunk and found the lever was jammed, so it wouldn't lock with the remote or with the key. I unjammed the lever and now the car locks with the key and the remote and the red light on the dash comes on. YEAY !!!!!
