Central Locking

Post by Andy Bakhsh »

Hi recently purchased a 2005 S60 2.5T. The car is fantastic and everything works great. When locking the car, using the remote, there is a visual confirmation with the front & rear signal lights coming on once, then the on dash led light blinks. For some reason, recently the front & rear signal lights have stopped coming on when I lock the car. I tried the yellow button on the remote for the approach lights, that works. All the signal lights work. Any suggestions?? Thanks.

Open each door, trunk, and gas tank, and give them a good slam. I'm sure you've already done this, but it's just a suggestion. If my S70 doesn't think the rear door is closed (it has a finicky switch), the car will lock but the lights won't flash. That's how I know the lights are going to stay on and kill my battery

Does the LED light still blink when you lock it?

I had an 05 S60 that exhibited the same symptoms except mine were somewhat more intermittent. I would get the led flash most of the time, no light flash, and the service alarm message occasionally. I was convinced the alarm module was bad but it ended up being the fuse for the alarm system. I can't recall which # the fuse is, but it is located underneath the steering wheel. You have to stick your head up in the footwell and remove the cover, there are about 8-10 fuses in there. Your owners manual should show you where these are. It might be worth checking.

Thank you all. I will try the opening and closing trick as well as the fuse. Will let you know how it works out.
