This happened on my S80 after a pad change. One of the new pads was machined wrong and stuck in the holder, causing it to remain in contact with the disc even when the brakes weren't engaged. It wore out the disc before I noticed it.

I had a similar problem recently although not on my Volvo. I replaced the caliper and it seemed OK. A few months later the problem resurfaced. Long story short the hose to the caliper was the culprit. The hose failure acted like a check valve, the brake could be presurized but the fluid would not flow back to release. Try jacking up the offending wheel. Pump the brakes up then release and check to see if you can then spin the wheel by hand. Mine wouldn't budge. Crack open the bleeder screw if that releases the wheel the problem is likely the hose. Although you will need to be prepared to re bleed your brakes if this isn't the problem.

Seized caliper most likely

Sometimes you can free a stuck caliper with a couple taps of a hammer. By all means, don't bang the crap out of it, just a couple taps. If that doesn't work, try the bleeding method above ^^^. You may just have to end up replacing the caliper, 2/3 I've had were just seized.
