Central locking woes & choking surge on hard acceleration

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Central locking woes & choking surge on hard acceleration

Post by dlg »

My 2002 S80 T6 - When I lock the car from inside with the key fob on either doors, I cannot unlock again unless I use the remote key to unlock . The remote cannot however lock from inside. Now sometimes the car will be in a good mood and the system will work perfectly but more often than not the problem seems to recur more frequently. My mechanic says I have to replace the rear electronic module unit and i don't agree…. Could it be a problem with the relays?

The car also has a power surge issue on hard foot on the floor acceleration almost as if the car wants to choke. From various views on this Forum i am yet to understand whether the problem can be completely solved by cleaning or replacing the ETM, TCV or BPC.

My wife’s 1999 S80 5 cylinder also has a central lock problem only that after locking ,the locks on passenger and rear door on same side keep unlocking /popping up 5 – 10 mins after running the engine. when you pop them back they pop back up again. Both units also have the same problem of a/c coming on after switching off the engine. Need some advise. Thank
