1986 740 turbo with some timing issues?

I have a 1986 740 turbo that has had the turbo excised. It ran fine for a year after excising the turbo but then began to have a severe miss. now the entire car shakes when it runs because of an irregular miss. I have assessed and replaced distributor cap, spark plugs and wires. I have changed air filter, assessed for vacuum leaks, checked the fuel injectors, and checked compression and timing. the timing was a little lower than normal, but the timing belt does not have any visible defects. The car hesitates majorly when you give it gas but then will slowly accelerate with misses up to at least 75 mph, at which point it seems to run OK but misses are still perceptible.
