ABS and TRAC light on following battery disconnect

Post by Joey »

I disconnected the negative cable on the battery on my 98 S70 to clean out the flame trap, (all that went well). Then when I reconnect and restart and drive the car the ABS and TRAC lights come on and stay on....?? Did I burn it up or does anyone have any insight on this one? Thanks much!

Probably just coincidental that it happened after battery disconnection. Very common problem in '96 and '97 850's and '98 S70's, as well as a few other models.

Well, here is an interesting resolution to my story. Just for fun, I stopped by Autozone and had them put the code reader on my S70. No error codes came up, but when I drove away the ABS and TRAC lights were off and stayed off even as I went past the 20mph point. I tried out the ABS with some hard braking and they work fine.... sheesh...! I think there are little electricial elves in the car!
