Just bought my used vehicle only a couple days old...here's the list I have found so far:
Isolate Front Right or Rear right hub replacement, then replace.
Front ball joints...maybe tie-rods or even front end.
Change E-brake pads
Change Rear Discs
Isolate ABS Warning and Transmission Warning and complete necessary fixes
Rectify the issues with drivers power seat switches or module or relay
Rectify the issues with rear brake lights not working.....may be the relay recall issue
Rectify the issue with the right rear fog light not working.....may be the relay recall issue
Rectify the issue with the interior light dimmer not working
Everything seems straightforward. Will keep you posted.
I am a Volvo Virgin so any recommendations or DIY links appreciated.

Hello, The front end parts and rear brake hardware you mentioned can be straightforward. Also the ABS/Trannie warning can probably be remedied by removing the ABS controller and sending it to Vic (see many posts and success stories on this one) for a rebuild. All that brake light and power seat stuff makes me cower. To start with lock and unlock your car 5 times. I've read that many electrical gremlins go away when you do this. How many miles on this car? Has the timing belt been changed? FYI (For Your Improvement): Search transmission fluid for this car. Hint: It's called 3309 by Mobil. It's vastly cheaper if you buy Toyota Type-IV fluid. It doesn't last the life of the car by any stretch. Let us know about the relay recall etc. Kira

George and Kira, Thanks for your info. I was thinking of sending my ABS controller to www.bba-reman.ca as they are located in Canada, then I don't have to deal with all the border duties...and headaches. Have you heard anything about their reputation?
Called volvo today about the relay recall # 131 but they said it isn't for my chasis. However it is clear that my Brake lights malfunctioning is the same as described with recall. I have to change one large relay(the problem one) with two smaller relays # 8651661. The problem is I live 2 hours from a volvo dealer, and I haven't been able to cross reference the relays. Volvo wants $21 each....
I have 94,0000 miles....The guy I bought my car from said he just changed the tran fluid. I need to find out if he did it himself or at volvo, and what kind of fluid he used.
I found a recall for tps irregularities, which means I will have new software installed in the electronic throttle module (ETM), but they say they aren't going to install new software on the engine control module(ECM), even though the Trasnsport Canada Recall # 2006311 says that is part of the recall.... I hear that the new programming can solve many problems with the transmission lights and abs lights.
Thank you jda2000. I was thinking that might have been the case with the rear fog lights but the wiring diagram shows one on each side? I guess that is irritate people like me

They've done studies you know. 60% of the time I work, every time!
