Headlamp wipers

One of the wipers has parked vertical and only moves now and again. How can I disable them as I dont really need them. Its annoying when you shut the bonnet and trap the blade. :x
Its a Volvo V40 (year 2000)

You have to disconnect the wiper arm motor and probably need to remove the bumper cover to do it. One of my V40s do it but then after shutting down the car and starting it again the wiper returns to its correct position
