I have the light lens and bulb/socket replacement parts but have been unable to find the 3 wire female pigtail or connector that attaches to 3 prong male bulb socket. How do I complete this repair? What parts do I need (local volvo parts dealers say the part is not available)? If I need to splice the wires what are my options?
Junkyard or www.erievovo.com or www.vandsautodismantlers.com for the harness. Automotive crimp connectors (covered with heatshrink or electrical tape) to make the splices.

Thanks to Sam in parts @ Volvo of Dallas! He helped identify the correct parts needed for this repair. You need 3 repair terminal wires, Part #30656689. The 3 terminal wires fit into what Volvo calls a 'Insulator', part #978139 (aka: plastic connector piece that the 3 prong terminal wires fit into). When all 3 terminals are pushed into the insulator/connector it fits perfectly into the Lamp Socket, Part #9178546 (aka: plastic turn signal bulb connector that goes into the plastic cover assembly). Cut the termianl wires to fit and use a butt/crimp connector (as highlighted by Vegas) to splice the the new wires to the old. Note: The green wire goes in the middle. I had to use trial and error for the black and white wires on the sides. Missed on the first try but it worked on the 2nd.

Great write up, the plastic tabs do break on their own. The driver's side just fell out on Sunday. Rock Auto Parts online has them for about $35.
