2005 V70 Rear Passenger inside door handle

Post by golfnbroker »

the door handle on the rear passenger door will not work from the inside. It may be that the child safety lock is not connected. When I throw it's switch, no difference. I want to try to take off the interior door panel to see if I can see in, but I'm afraid I will mess up the panel. Can anyone tell me the best way to pry the clips so that the panel is not messed up? Also, I am getting an idiot warning that my security system needs service. Maybe these problems are related? Help would be appreciated.

you mean the whole interior panel? there are self locking rivet (at least that's what I call) around the panel, and use a pin to push the center, then you can get the panel off

Thanks for the info. Actually there doesn't seem to be a "center" to push. I just decided to slip two putty knives under the panel to each side of each pin & pry. Each pin just popped out. Thanks for your advice. My problem turned out to be the back of the handle assembly had just come loose so the cable wasn't connected to the handle lever. Seems a little "Mickey Mouse" if you ask me. I am going to put some strapping tape over the back of the assembly to help it from coming apart in the future. Maybe the folks from China will improve quality.....wishful thinking! Thanks again.

I'm not sure what your door looks like, but my 02 S60 got some sort of rivets around the inside, and very easy to remove. maybe you can put some pictures here, see if your car got something similar to mine.
