740 won't start after harmonic balancer replaced.

i have a 1990...it won't start after the h balancer was put on after it came off..i put a belt on it also..could it be a crank sencor?

Which belt did you replace - timing belt or auxiliary drive belt?

timing belt..on the 1990 740...is the crank sensor on top of the bell housing?

The crank sensor is on top of the bell housing. When you replaced the harmonic balancer and the timing belt did you have the timing marks correctly aligned? This would be a possible source of non-start.

yes bill...i bought this car not running..the other guy put the balancer and the belt on and could not get it running..he had the belt on right..i bought a new belt and put it on..i did not like the looks of it..i also did a leak down test to see if the valves were o k and they were..i'm guessing it is some kind of sensor...Mike

No never said if you had spark or gas.
