I just noticed today that when I shift from park to reverse the transmission slips for about a 1/2 second then goes into gear. Once in gear it is fine and only seems to happen going from park. I just got in and I have not yet checked the fluid, which I will do first thing in the AM.
Any thoughts other than maybe low fluid????
Thanks, Carl

Check the condition and level of the fluid failing that replace it chances are thats all the box needs.

I've actually had the tranny slip, like after I come to a fast stop, for only like a mili-second,seems like the tranny has to "catch-up" with the motor, oil level is good, also the tranny was replaced @ 140k now has 198k....is that something you are feeling carlr?

Should'nt we also change the filter? And what is the best tranny oil recommended? Thanks.....FCPGroton wrote:carlr, I had the same issue with my 850. Once I flushed it out with new fluid, it was a lot better.

There's no filter.
Ok, well, there is a filter, but you can't get to it without removing the whole transmission. Some people put one in one of the transmission lines to the radiator, more power to them. As long as you keep the fluid clean, you won't have problems with it.
Any Dex-III fluid will work, some people use the 3309 fluid from later cars, or I personally really like Mobil-1 full-synthetic ATF.

Those are the kinds of people I "brake check" when they get right up on me.
I made the mistake of going through Daytona 4 years ago during bike week...never have I been so annoyed with them.
