SRS light

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

SRS light

Post by Stacy »

the other day I had my s80 jacked up in the rear checking a rattle under the car and after I tightend the loose bolt I thought it was a great opporunity to dosome vacuuming and cleaning since the car was alittle higher in the air. well I was side tracked for a while and when i made it back to the garage the battery was dead, So I checked out the battery I found both cables loose. Not a big deal right! well I tightend them up and put the charger on it, after a little while the car started right up but the SRS light stayed illuminated and will not shut off. and I havent had any issues with the charging system since but cannot get the srs light out. Is there a way to reset the computer without going to the dealership? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Nothing in the back really has anything to do with the SRS system...And that's one system you really don't want to mess around with, unfortunately...I think when the light is on constantly that means that the system is not functioning. You might try going to your local Volvo dealer and having them pull codes, only they can actually pull the code up (auto parts stores cannot read srs codes)
There's most likely actually a problem with one of your components.
Good luck...and safe driving!

Each time you try to reset it, it comes back because there actually is a problem. Go to a Volvo dealer to get it scanned, only way to get it fixed properly.
