Help, Advice and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's P80 platform cars -- Volvo's 1990s "bread and butter" cars -- powered by the ubiquitous and durable Volvo inline 5-cylinder engine.
That's certainly annoying and uncalled for on the part of your car. Hopefully you'll figure out it's something really simple (of course after spending a lot of money...)

1. Retrace your steps one more time. The cause has to be caused by your recent work.
2. Read the codes again and tell us what codes.
3. Check all ground cables.
4. Remove the spark plugs one more time and check the coil packs for its integrity.
Make sure all coil pack connections are nice and tight.
Do you still have the old coil packs?
The engine may be flooded from repeated no start so removing the sp plugs will help.
This is why I told you when new problems develop after new work, look and trace the steps. You damaged a few wirings during re-installation of the Plastic Cover.
It seems to me that you are a novice in car repair, so here are a few advices.
1. The Bolts from the Engine Plastic Cover squeezed a few wirings exactly where the bolts go!
- Red wire to coil #2 is squeezed!
- Brown wire (ground) is squeezed!
Fix them using new wiring and:
a. either soldering/shrinkable tubing (if you don't know what you are doing then get help from someone who knows.
b. Another option is using "butt" connectors.
2. In the other pic I posted above, make sure the wiring runs exactly like that pic to prevent being squeezed!
And again be careful when installing the Plastic Cover: all wirings need to be tucked down properly first!!!
Now the more I think about this problem it makes perfect sense.
If you focus on the brown wire (yellow arrow on the R of the pic above), it was squished by the bolt during re-installation. This same brown wire feeds the Cam Position Sensor (CPS): follow it in the picture and you will see it runs into the CPS.
This is why you got the CPS error codes. And even after changing the CPS, nothing happens because the problem is in the wiring, not the CPS itself.
Hi ammarhaq, have not heard from you, are you MIA???
Sorry I disappeared. I had to go out of town. But before I left, I had the car towed to a Volvo mechanic. And guess what: the problem was fuses! yep, that's right, he changed two fuses at 75 cents a piece and the car started. I had to pay $120!! It took him an hour or two to figure it out.
Anyways, now that the car is running, there are still some codes coming up. Here they are:
p1113
p1332
p0137
p1238
p0013
The car seems to be driving fine, but that's quite a few codes. Can anyone shed some light?
Check this website out that I just found. http://www.aboutautomobile.com/DTC/
All you do is type in your trouble code and it will tell you why it's there. Start looking of forums, I guarantee that your troubles boil down to a specific problem or two... hopefully. I know that my car was throwing about 15 codes at once and it just ended up being a few simple things (02 sensors, MAF sensor, camshaft seals, clean ETM), but no codes like these. Hope this website helps!
