My s60 is so hard to start in the morning and even after a long down time.
what could be the cause? Is it the fuel pump or dirty/clogged fuel filter?
Did a fuel pressure test and read 56psi. Is there an idle control valve on this car?
Where is the fuel filter located. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If the fuel pressure is high at a start, the filter is OK.
I'm not very familiar with the emissions system on the newer models, but on the S70 if you can pull off the EVAP line into the intake manifold, and then start the engine much easier, your problem is the purge valve for the EVAP system.
It will flood the intake with too much fuel vapor at start if it is not closing correctly.
I have only briefly looked over the engines of one of the newer cars, but here is where the line is located on my car; hopefully yours is pretty similar.

You don't have an idle control valve, as that is controlled directly by the electronic throttle.

Replaced fuel filter, removed and tested purge control solenoid by connecting to battery and blowing into tubes and valves close and open, installed pcs and did a quick spin around the neighborhood. Restarted after one hr. and same hard starting.
What is the next logical step to get this car start quickly?
I heard from a friend that before turning off the engine, let it idle for about a minute or more to get rid of the gas fumes in the line and intake burn out. I'll try this next time and repost here. Any input from anyone would be great. Thanks
