How many tailgate struts required?

Post by syrdon »

Trying to order replacement tailgate struts for my 96 850 Turbo wagon from the FCP Groton site.

On the webpage for the part: http://www.fcpgroton.com/product-exec/p ... gory_id/33 it states "Volvo 850 Turbo Tailgate Strut. 2 required per side. This strut is for wagons only", which I read as 4 struts in total required, but I've taken off the trim piece and am only seeing one strut per side. I've also reviewed the replacement instructions posted on this site and it only seems to show one strut per side.

Can someone verify whether I need to order 2 struts in total, or 4? Appreciate it.

- One/side, total = 2 per car.

- Use only "Stabilus" brand.

- DIY is here, very easy but you need a broomstick or some 2 x4 to prop the tailgate while you do the work.
