Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

How to clear S80 aircon evap drain hose

Post by vicky »

Hi all,

2001 S80

My aircon isn't working as well as it should, ice cold for 10 mins then it warms. I don't get water on the road when using the aircon so am assuming a blockage on the drain outlet. The gas has been recharged. Haynes suggested clearing the drain hose on a regular basis but helpfully don't say how. I can't find it! Nothing in any manual I have directs me to it. From underneath very little is visible and taking out the glovebox hasn't shed any light.

Any guidance appreciated.

Cheers,
Vicky

Searched and searched in VADIS but couldn't find anything about a drain hose. I have uploaded the climate control component location. Maybe it will help you. Let us know how you make out...
Have added a second file from VADIS re: Air Conditioning. It refers to a drain hose from the evaporator so hopefully you can look under the evaporator.

Many thanks for looking. The aircon document refers to the correct hose "the water drains out under the vehicle via a drain hose" but I'm still stuck finding it. I'm sure it's blocked, the aircon cycles and the windows frequently mist up. There must be a way to clear this hose without taking out the dash :(

I did have a look in the glove box area but nothing is obviously a pipe going to the outside. Underneath it is all covers and again no sign.

Thanks all for reading.
