Radio displays "CODE"

What does it display?

it doesn't display anything. when i first turn the car on it shows "OFF" so i hit the power button and it goes blank. I just assumed that meant it was on because it was still receiving power

If it's not displaying anything, there are only two senarios, one is a fuse has blown, the other is your radio has blown up.
Really nothing else, unless power cord came off the back of the radio....
Pull out the radio and see if everything is plugged in correctly

I just did this recently on 2 cars - a 98 V90 and a 99 C70.

In both cases, the radio displayed OFF when on. If you turn it off, it goes blank. It has to be on and display OFF when you leave it on for 2 hours.

Both recovered fine and took the codes after 2+ hours. I left them sitting in the driveway, and didn't pay a lot of attention to the time.

The fuse takes 1 minute to change. It's just a 10 Amp chicklet fuse. On my car it's number 32. The fusebox is under the hood up by the driver's side mirror.
